Manufacturers are rushing to churn out these high-riding 'soft-roaders' as fast as they can and Volkswagen is determined to fill in every size category possible. After months of spy shots, Volkswagen has officially released a teaser, showing the all- new Touareg in sketch form.

Volkswagen has released a design sketch of its new Touareg, which will have its world debut at the end of March in Beijing, the capital of the world’s strongest growing SUV market and VW’s largest individual market.

The third generation of Volkswagen’s flagship, is reportedly the company’s poster child for expressive design, innovative technology and dynamic handling, and according to the sketch, it looks to have a very close resemblance to the T-Prime GTE Concept introduced to years ago at the Beijing International Automotive Exhibition.

The 2017 Volkswagen Touareg is the German brand's flagship SUV, but its ,000 starting price makes it as awkward a fit in its segment as its name is to A year after the hybrid powertrain was put out to pasture, the once-loved diesel option is gone, too, in the wake of VW 's scandal.

The design was penned by a team lead by Klaus Bischoff, Head of Volkswagen Design. Although it’s hard to tell from a line sketch, the company claims the new Touareg’s appearance is unmistakably strong in character, and it is chock full of driving aids for “a maximum degree of safety and comfort.”

We can’t vouch for the innovative assistance systems, as the company didn’t release much information with the sketch, but we can discern a 2-box design that looks almost identical to the current model, with visible changes such as low-profile headlights that wrap around to the fenders. The grille looks to have the horizontal slats of current VW passenger cars, such as the new Jetta, and the front bumper seems to have large side openings that likely meant to provide added air to the engine and the brakes, while probably also housing fog lamps. Body add-ons look to include a high-mounted rear spoiler and lower-body cladding (sills and wheel well flares).
