A Milton elementary teacher is facing sexual assault charges following an investigation by Halton Police’s Child Abuse and Sexual Assault unit.

Police said they began the investigation on Thursday after reports of alleged sexual assaults at Tiger Jeet Singh Public School. Police said they interviewed female students from the school.

Police arrested Hazem Kabbara, 37, of Oakville. He has been charged with two counts of sexual assault and sexual interference.

Halton District School Board spokesman Marnie Denton has confirmed that Kabbara has been suspended. The board have notified parents of the situation and provided a link to the police release, as well as resource material for support services.

Toronto cops to be removed from schools .
The Toronto District School Board has voted to permanently end the practice of having police officers stationed in high schools. There was loud applause when the result of a vote to scrap the School Resources Officer Program was announced on Wednesday night."We're not saying we don't want to have a relationship with the police, but we just won't want armed police officers in our school every day," school board chairwoman Robin Pilkey told reporters after the vote.
