Wetmore and Wilson Halls were evacuated - and police were called - after the item was found on Tuesday afternoon.

NEWARK -- A Newark Liberty International Airport terminal was reopened after a suspicious package prompted a partial evacuation of the area Saturday afternoon, officials said. The item was found at Terminal A on level 3, according to Port Authority police spokesman Joe Pentangelo.


Two halls at the University of Toronto have been evacuated as Toronto Police investigate a suspicious item found in one of the university’s residences on Tuesday afternoon.

Const. Jenniferjit Sidhu said police were called to 21 Classic Ave. at around 2:50 p.m. after “something suspicious” was found in the area.

Wilson Hall and Wetmore Hall have both been evacuated, the University of Toronto said in a statement posted on Twitter Tuesday afternoon.

Both Toronto Police and Toronto Fire are at the scene.

The exact nature of the item – and why the building has been evacuated – hasn’t been officially confirmed by police.

The police’s CBRNE (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear/Explosive) team, which investigates suspicious packages, has been called in.

No injuries have been reported.

Eastbound lanes on Harbord St. at Spadina Ave. have been shut down.
