Melvin Jackson, 30, and Sara Chiarotti, 28, were identified, arrested, and charged with multiple offences after what Windsor police describe as a spree of break-and-enter incidents.

A total of nine cases took place in Windsor apartment buildings over a period of four days in October.

Along with breaking into dwellings, these incidents involved theft of vehicles, theft of personal property, and property damage.

Windsor police remind the public that property crimes cost Canadians millions of dollars in losses every year.

“Although there is no direct human victim … the effects on the property owner can be severe,” stated police.

Jackson has been charged with nine counts of breaking and entering; 10 counts of mischief (property damage); 10 counts of possession of property obtained by crime (value under $5,000 per charge); six counts of possession of another person’s identification; two counts of theft (value under $5,000 per charge); theft of a motor vehicle; possession of break-and-enter tools; and breach of probation.

Chiarotti has been charged with four counts of breaking and entering; eight counts of mischief (property damage); 10 counts of possession of property obtained by crime (value under $5,000 per charge), six counts of possession of another person’s identificaiton; two counts of theft (value under $5,000 per charge); and breach of probation.
