Toronto police could not immediately say where she was found or the cause of death. However, police spokesperson Const. Allyson Douglas-Cook said the body was found Wednesday night. Today would have been Richey's 23rd birthday.Investigators will be releasing more information shortly.Earlier this week, Richey's sisters told CBC Toronto that the entire family was always in close contact, and it was uncharacteristic of Tess not to reply to text messages.

Homicide detectives are trying to identify a male who was seen in the company of Tess Richey shortly before the young woman disappeared. Richey , 22, was last seen in the area of Church and Wellesley streets at around 3 a.m. on Nov.

Police investigating the suspicious death of 22-year-old Tess Richey say they are now looking for a man who may have been in her company just before her death.

Richey was reported missing on Nov. 25, having last been seen around 3 a.m. that morning. Her body was found four days later on Wednesday afternoon outside of a building under construction at Church St. and Dundonald St., only a short distance from where she was last seen at Church and Wellesley.

While police did not initially suspect foul play, a post-mortem conducted on Friday shows that Richey’s cause of death was a “neck compression,” which changed the ruling to a homicide.

Toronto police are investigating the death of a missing woman as a homicide, and say she died of “neck compression.”. Tess Richey , 22, was found dead on Wednesday, Nov. 29 in an abandoned building near Church and Wellesley streets, four days after she disappeared.

22-year-old was found dead near Church and Wellesley area not far from where she went missing. Tess Richey 's friend, Ryley Simard, told CBC Toronto on Monday that she last saw her friend around 4 a.m. Saturday, when she decided to head home after their night out.

Police now say it is believed Richey was in the presence of a man shortly before her death.

They say that when her friend left the area, Richey was alone with this man on Church St. somewhere between or around Wellesley St. and Dundonald St. from 2 a.m. to 5 a.m.

The man has been described as white and somewhere between 5-foot-7 to 6 feet tall, with a slim build and light-coloured short hair.

Homicide investigators are seeking to identify him. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 416-808-7400.
