  1 dead, 4 in serious condition after car crash near Okotoks Okotoks RCMP are investigating after a single-vehicle crash left one person dead, and sent four others to hospital in serious condition. Police were on scene at the crash, which took place at 112 Street West, approximately one kilometre north of Highway 549,  at around 9 p.m. on Saturday evening.  Police said in a release that a collision analyst will be investigating. RCMP are rerouting traffic from the area so police can safely investigate. A WestJet Airlines Ltd plane that was headed to Vancouver early on Wednesday was diverted to the Canadian town of Prince George in the province of British Columbia after a warning from a fire detector, a spokeswoman said.

WestJet Encore Flight 3205, carrying 44 passengers and 4 crew aboard a Bombardier Q400 prop plane, landed safely at Prince George, airline spokeswoman Lauren Stewart said by email.

"All guests, crew and baggage have been offloaded and a preliminary inspection indicates at this time that no fire was present," she wrote.

The plane had departed from Fort St. John in British Columbia.

Eric Collard, a spokesman for Canada's Transportation Safety Board, said the agency was "gathering information" about the incident.

Stewart said WestJet was arranging aircraft from Calgary, Alberta to retrieve the passengers and expected that "everyone will be on their way this morning."

Fire crews to work overnight to battle St. James area blaze .
A commercial building in Winnipeg's St. James area went up in flames on Monday afternoon. Flames could be seen pouring from the two-storey warehouse building in the 500 block of Roseberry Street near St. Matthews Avenue shortly after 4 p.m.Mark Reshaur, an assistant chief with the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service, said the fire started just after 3:15 p.m., but it's not clear yet what started it. Nobody was in the building at the time and no injuries have been reported, he said.Firefighters started with an offensive attack but had to leave the building as conditions worsened, he said.
