One man is dead and another remains hospitalized after a shooting east of downtown on Friday evening. A 31-year-old man, who had been hospitalized in critical condition, succumbed to his injuries overnight. Montreal police are calling this the seventh homicide of 2018.

One man is dead and another remains hospitalized after a shooting east of downtown on Friday evening. 

A 31-year-old man, who had been hospitalized in critical condition, succumbed to his injuries overnight. Montreal police are calling this the seventh homicide of 2018.

The other victim, a 42-year-old man, suffered serious upper-body injuries but they are not believed to be life threatening. 

Montreal police found the pair with gunshot wounds on Bercy St., near Ontario St. E., in Ville-Marie borough after 911 received reports of people hearing gunshots.

The officers also found shell casings on the ground, police said.

A suspect was reported seen fleeing in a vehicle heading south on Bercy, police said.
