  'It makes no sense': Winnipeg family seeks missing man last seen Monday A Winnipeg family is searching for a 59-year-old man who went missing Monday night. Eduardo Balaquit's family last heard from him around 6 p.m. Monday, when he was on his way to do normal contract work for the janitorial business he owns, his son Edward Balaquit said. But he didn't come home that night, and the building manager of the site called his family the following day to say Balaquit's work hadn't been done. The manager found Balaquit's van with the passenger window smashed, some of his belongings on the ground in front of it and his cellphone still inside.

Missing , never forgotten. Search for Eduardo Balaquit touches other families with similar experiences. A police spokeswoman said there were no new updates in Balaquit ’s case Friday, adding she was unable to say whether investigators were still out actively searching for him.

Eduardo Balaquit went missing Monday evening when he was supposed to be doing janitorial duties at a Tyndall Park business. On Tuesday morning, a police news release said the homicide unit has taken over the investigation.

Police are expected to release more information this morning about the disappearance of a Winnipeg father who went missing early last week in the Tyndall Park area.

Eduardo Balaquit, 59, was reported missing when he didn't return home from work on June 4. He last spoke with family that day and was last seen in the area of 380 Keewatin St. between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m.

His van was found near his workplace with the passenger window broken in. His cellphone was still in the vehicle and personal belongings were found on the ground outside.

The homicide unit took over the investigation and a number of community and family-driven search efforts have taken place over the past nine days.

A police spokesperson said Wednesday there has been a development in the case but did not provide any other details. More information is expected to be released at 11 a.m. today during a police news conference.

Eduardo Balaquit is 5-foot-4, 155 pounds and has a medium build. He was wearing a black zip-up sweater, black pants and black shoes when he was last seen.
