  Abbotsford shooting leaves 1 man dead, another critically injured Abbotsford Cst. Ian MacDonald confirmed the shooting occurred around 11:30 p.m. Saturday at the 2000 block of Wilerose Street. Police responded to reports of gunshots around 11:30 p.m. When they arrived on scene, officers found two men with gunshot wounds. Both were transferred to hospital, where one died of his injuries. The other is in critical condition, according to police.​ Police have cornered off the block and are in the early stages of the investigation. They have not confirmed if a suspect has been identified.

A man was killed in a large explosion the blew the garage door completely off the house. The cause is under investigation.

A man has died in an explosion and fire at an Abbotsford home on Thursday afternoon, according to police.

The blast happened at 4:18 p.m. in a garage in the 3300 block of Ponderosa Street, a police press release says.

When first responders arrived on the scene, the home was fully engulfed in flames.

Six adults and two young children managed to escape the fire, but one man was killed, according to police.

Investigators have not released the man's name.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, and anyone with information is asked to call the Abbotsford Police Department at 604-859-5225 or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Toronto police have set up two books of condolences for residents who wish to extend their sympathy to the families of two Fredericton police officers killed on the job on Friday. Const. Robb Costello and Const. Sara Burns of Fredericton police died in a shooting at a Fredericton apartment complex on Friday, along with two civilians, Bobbie Lee Wright and Donnie Robichaud.The books will be in the main lobby of police headquarters at 40 College St. starting on Tuesday.Police said in a news release on Tuesday that the books will then be given privately to the families of the officers.
