MIRAMAR, Fla. - Authorities say Canadian hip-hop artist Tory Lanez has been arrested on a weapons charge in South Florida.

The Sun Sentinel reports that Miramar police pulled over the 24-year-old Brampton, Ont., native on Wednesday afternoon for an expired dealer tag on a 2014 Rolls-Royce.

A police report says Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Shemuel Peterson, did not have a valid license to drive in the U.S. The officer also reported finding less than 20 grams of marijuana and a loaded firearm in the car.

Lanez was arrested and charged with carrying a concealed weapon, marijuana possession, failing to register a vehicle and operating a vehicle without a license or insurance. He was released from jail Thursday on $1,000 bail.

His attorney says his client is innocent and will be fully exonerated.

Lanez posted a message on his verified Twitter account saying "believe none of what you hear and only half of what you see. don't let the internet fool you. the truth prevails."

Lanez was recently nominated for a Grammy Award in the best R&B category for his song "Luv.''

After three weeks, French artist succeeds in hatching eggs .
French artist Abraham Poincheval, who famously spent a week inside a rock and two weeks inside a bear sculpture, has succeeded in hatching chicken eggs after incubating them for some three weeks. Poincheval embarked on his latest project in late March of imitating a mother hen by incubating some 10 eggs with his own body heat inside a glass vivarium at Paris' Palais de Tokyo contemporary art museum. At the time, he estimated it would take 21-26 days for the eggs to hatch and the first did so on Tuesday. A spokeswoman for the museum said on Thursday nine had hatched and the chicks were on their way to a farm.
