Growing outrage over Bill Maher's racial slur on live television - Duration: 2:35. ABC News 196,299 views. Smart for Enes Kanter and Frank Ntilikina to go after LeBron James? |

As Knicks fans applauded Kanter for standing up to LeBron , one New York sportswriter 's joke on Twitter crossed a line. Longtime writer Peter Vecsey reacted to the scuffle by quoting a Notorious B.I.G. lyric with a racial slur .

LeBron James and Enes Kanter were hit with technical fouls and needed to be separated during a heated scuffle from the first quarter of Monday's Cavaliers-Knicks game.

As Knicks fans applauded Kanter for standing up to LeBron, one New York sportswriter's joke on Twitter crossed a line. Longtime writer Peter Vecsey reacted to the scuffle by quoting a Notorious B.I.G. lyric with a racial slur. Though Vecsey edited the N-word, the use of the slur (in any form) in reference to LeBron James did not sit well with NBA fans.

The backlash from Vecsey's tweet poured in immediately.

He would later stand by his tweet in a reply.

Vecsey is the same writer who waited six years to respond to an insulting tweet from Magic Johnson.

Agent on LeBron's future: 'Most important thing is about winning' .
Rich Paul, LeBron James’ agent, made it clear during a recent interview that when it comes to his client’s future, the “most important thing is about winning.” Paul recently joined “The Herd” and weighed in on James’ free-agency future, interestingly adding that James’ “owes” it to the Cleveland Cavaliers to focus on the here and now and worry about what the future holds further on down the line. “For anywhere, not Los Angeles, not Miami, not Detroit, Milwaukee,” Paul said, via Pro Basketball Talk. “I think for LeBron, and for most athletes, the most important thing is about winning.“At his level, it should be. It should be about winning at his point in his career.
