Former USA Gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar received a 60-year sentence in federal court Thursday, stemming from three child pornography charges which he pleaded guilty to in July.

Nassar received the maximum sentence from Judge Janet T. Neff.

The former doctor was found to be in possession of over 37,000 videos and images of child pornography, U.S. Attorney Sean Lewis revealed, according to ESPN.

Numerous gymnasts spoke out about Nassar's perpetual abuse, including 2012 Olympic gold medalist McKayla Maroney and 2016 Olympic gold medalist Aly Raisman.

Raisman detailed how she was sexually abused by Nassar in an interview with "60 Minutes" earlier this year.

Larry Nassar , the former acclaimed USA Gymnastics team doctor , pleaded guilty Wednesday to Separately, Nassar is also awaiting sentencing on federal charges of receiving child pornography , possessing child pornography and a charge that he hid and destroyed evidence in the case .

"I was just really innocent. I didn't really know. You don't think that of someone, so I trusted him," Raisman said.

"He would buy me little things, so I really thought he was a nice person," Raisman said. "I really thought he was looking out for me. That's why I want to do this interview. I want to talk about it. I want people to know that just because someone is nice to you, and just because everyone is saying they are the best person, it does not make it OK for them to ever make you uncomfortable, ever."

Maroney penned a letter to the court, lobbying for Nassar to spend the rest of his life imprisoned.

"It started when I was 13 years old, at one of my first national team training camps, in Texas, and it didn't end until I left the sport," Maroney wrote. "Because the national team training camps did not allow parents to be present, my mom and dad were unable to observe what Nassar was doing.

"He abused my trust, abused my body, and left scars on my psyche that may never heal. Larry Nassar deserves to spend the rest of his life in prison."
