Drew Doughty of the Los Angeles Kings was suspended for one game.

The ultimate form of ‘You can’t do that’

Game One sent Leafs nation into a tailspin. The night before, there was a profound sense of optimism and determination to will our favourite team to a victory. Unfortunately, Boston dominated, JVR lost his mouthguard, Brad Marchand licked Leo Komarov, yadda yadda yadda, welcome to Saturday.

What will be the message from Mike Babcock ahead of puck drop tonight? Well, probably something similar to what he said Thursday, but with a little more bite to it. Nobody likes, ‘I told you so’s,’ but sometimes having things play out in certain circumstances does a lot more than a 10-item list of warnings.

Nazem Kadri only person to blame for suspension that puts Maple Leafs in tough spot

Nazem Kadri only person to blame for suspension that puts Maple Leafs in tough spot Nazem Kadri's emotions got away from him, and that led to a bad hit on Tommy Wingels and a three-game suspension with the Maple Leafs already down 1-0.Kadri would argue that he was standing up for a teammate, but what he ended up doing was letting down his team. Kadri is a valuable player, a 32-goal scorer with an edge to his game. He matches up well against top offensive players.

Nazem Kadri scored a hat-trick in the Maple Leafs 5-3 win last night against the Blue Jackets. The Leafs now have two days off before playing back-to-back games against the Penguins on Saturday and the Red Wings on Sunday.

Babs doesn‘t have to tell the Leafs what awaits them anymore; they experienced it. The next step is to learn, respond, and find a way to come back to Toronto with a 1-1 series tie.

All that will have to be done without Nazem Kadri who was given a three-game suspension for his hit on Tommy Wingels. No surprise there.

We got a chance to see what the Leafs will be rolling with for Game Two without Kadri in the lineup at yesterday’s practice. Komarov is going to get reacquainted with Marchand fairly soon if the line matching game continues. However, Babcock believed that was the best choice moving forward. Can’t argue with him, he’s the coach.

Speaking of line matching though, you may have noticed the few times the Leafs fourth was on at the same time as Boston’s first. Less than ideal situation to say the least, and one of those instances cost a goal. Was that on purpose or by accident? Again we hear from the coach.

Message delivered, and hopefully, it’s sent. The Leafs are coming into this game arguably weaker than their last, but this is what the playoffs are all about. A nice slice of adversity pie never hurt anyone, and for the players on the team, perhaps it’s needed.

Nazem Kadri's cheap shot worst of numerous mistakes by Leafs

Nazem Kadri's cheap shot worst of numerous mistakes by Leafs The Maple Leafs made a boatload of blunders against Boston on Thursday and as a result, they find themselves behind 1-0 in their opening-round series after a 5-1 drubbing by the Bruins. On so many occasions in the regular season, the Maple Leafs could turn on a tap and allow their ample speed and skill to flow and beat the opposition.

Nazem Kadri Bob Ross is so fitting because Bob Ross draws pictures and Kadri draws penalties. I’m sure you have all seen the Steve Dangle bits. Soon after, Marc Bergevin does the most Marc Bergevin thing in the world .

World Football. But I think Nazem Kadri deserves a great deal of credit himself. It' s not easy being a first round draft pick for the Toronto Maple Leafs, let alone a top 10 pick.

The Chicago captain continues to be a class-act.
