Minor freezes up Jays for 1st win as starter since '14 Minor freezes up Jays for 1st win as starter since '14ARLINGTON, Texas (AP)-- Mike Minor pitched two-hit ball over six innings to win a start for the first time since 2014 and the Texas Rangers beat the Toronto Blue Jays 5-1 Saturday night in one of the coldest games ever at Globe Life Park.

The Marlins just managed to get three runs to score on a sacrifice fly . But it happened and it came at the expense of Pirates starter Chad Kuhl. With one out and the bases loaded for Starlin Castro in the fifth inning, Kuhl got Castro to fly out to right fielder Gregory Polanco.

The Marlins will take a run any way they can get it this season and the Pirates gifted them three Friday.

Confused? So are we. But it happened and it came at the expense of Pirates starter Chad Kuhl.

The 26-year-old then fired a throw home, but it was too late to catch pitcher Dillon Peters who tagged up from third base.

This is where things got crazy. Miguel Rojas then tried to advance on the throw home to second base and Pirates catcher Elias Diaz threw down trying to catch him.

3 ways the Orioles blew Tuesday's game vs. Blue Jays

3 ways the Orioles blew Tuesday's game vs. Blue Jays First things first: Toronto Blue Jays starter Aaron Sanchez cruised through seven hitless innings against the Baltimore Orioles, issuing only four walks and a hit-by-pitch before taking the mound again in the eighth with a 1-0 lead. The Orioles threatened, tied the game, and then failed to keep their feet on the gas, eventually losing 2-1. But it wasn't simply one thing that sunk this team; at least three key moments played a role in the Orioles losing a game they probably should have won, despite Sanchez's outstanding pitching performance.

Problem was the throw sailed and Starling Marte was nowhere to be found to back up the play. That allowed Derek Dietrich to score from second and Rojas followed him all the way around to score from first.

It goes down as a sac fly and a two-base error. Only one of the runs was earned but the Pirates deserve all the ridicule for this play.

Richard Griffin: Gurriel, Hernandez drive in six runs as Blue Jays down Yankees .
Blue Jays management has talked the last two off-seasons about getting younger and more athletic yet, on opening day, the position players in the starting lineup averaged 31 years old and the most athletic player was 37-year-old outfielder Curtis Granderson. The Jays fielded a vastly different lineup in an 8-5 win at Yankee Stadium on Friday, a game that featured the debut of 24-year-old second baseman Lourdes Gurriel and the continued emergence of 25-year-old outfielder Teoscar Hernandez. Both are young and athletic, but not guaranteed starters moving forward.
