Report: Matt Harvey partied in L.A. night before shaky bullpen outing Matt Harvey apparently isn’t doing much to get himself back in the good graces of the New York Mets. Ian Mohr of Page Six reported on Monday that the former All-Star was partying in Los Angeles the night before a shaky recent outing against the San Diego Padres. Harvey attended the grand opening of Avra, a high-end Greek restaurant in Beverly Hills, last Thursday. He then rejoined the Mets for their series opener against the Padres on Friday (which had a 7:10 PM first pitch) and came out of the bullpen for one inning, giving up a home run and a walk.

Matt Harvey is headed to Cincinnati.

The New York Mets and Cincinnati Reds agreed to a trade on Tuesday that sends Harvey to the Reds for catcher Devin Mesoraco and cash. Mesoraco is in the final year of a 4-year, $28 million contract and earning $13 million this season. After breaking out in 2014 with an .893 OPS, Mesoraco went into the tank the next two seasons and was limited due to surgeries. He underwent hip and shoulder surgeries that limited him to 39 games.

Harvey now heads to Cincinnati, which does not appear to be a good landing spot. They’re a bad team and play in a small ballpark, which is not favorable to pitchers — especially one who is struggling. But Harvey did not want to go to the minor leagues and believes he should remain an MLB starter. He’ll get an opportunity to pitch for a team that has the worst record in the league.

Harvey is earning $5.6 million this season. Ken Rosenthal says the teams will pay the remainder of their respective players’ salaries.

Syndergaard, Mets break out in 12-2 rout of Blue Jays .
Noah Syndergaard won for the first time in five weeks, knocking in two early runs against the team that traded him to rouse a sluggish New York Mets offense during a 12-2 rout of the Toronto Blue Jays. Missing injured sluggers Yoenis Cespedes and Todd Frazier from a slumping lineup, the Mets finally broke through anyway against Jaime Garcia and the skidding Blue Jays after an 86-minute rain delay at the start. Juan Lagares had four hits, three RBIs and a stolen base to help New York improve to 12-0 at home against Toronto — the longest such streak in interleague history, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.
