Tiger Woods' career resurgence has once again made him a popular pick to win every tournament he enters, and he comes to Shinnecock Hills this week on the 10th anniversary of his last major championship win.

Woods is among the tournament favorites in Vegas at 22/1 and has better odds than defending champion Brooks Koepka, but here are three reasons why you shouldn't put money on Woods to win this weekend.

1. Woods' inconsistency will cost him

Woods has shown flashes of his old brilliance at times and likely should have a win to his name already this year, but the inconsistency of his game has routinely knocked him out of contention late in tournaments.

When the season began, Woods was wild off the tee, and though he's gotten more accurate as the year has progressed, any missed fairways could easily lead to bogeys or worse at Shinnecock. More recently, Woods' putter has let him down. He had one of the worst putting rounds of his career at the Wells Fargo Championship, and struggled again at the Memorial. If you're wondering, the Open greens look treacherously fast.

2. The field is brutally tough

So many things have to go right for Woods to come out on top in a field that includes all of the top ranked golfers in the world. When he plays his absolute best, Woods would likely be able to beat anyone - but we haven't seen Tiger deliver that type of comprehensive performance in 2018. Meanwhile, world No. 1 Dustin Johnson just won a tune-up event last weekend, Rory McIlroy, Justin Thomas and Jason Day all have wins this season, and 2013 U.S. Open champion Justin Rose has a win and a T6 in his last two starts. It's hard to pick Woods over any of those guys.
