Report: Lakers believe landing Kawhi would likely clinch LeBron commitment The Los Angeles Lakers and San Antonio Spurs understand what it would mean if Kawhi Leonard were to go to Hollywood. Both teams reportedly believe a trade for Leonard would be enough to entice four-time NBA Most Valuable Player LeBron James to leave the Cleveland Cavaliers and sign with the Lakers, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, Ramona Shelburne, and Brian Windhorst. After having the door shut on them originally, the Lakers have managed to re-open trade talks with the Spurs in an effort to acquire Leonard, even though San Antonio still desires to fix its relationship with the two-time Defensive Player of the Year.

Though the San Antonio Spurs are exploring their trade options with other teams around the league, their disgruntled star reportedly hasn't changed his mind about where he wants to go.

Kawhi Leonard's focus remains on getting himself to the Los Angeles Lakers, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Whether that happens this summer or next is up to the Lakers and Spurs, who so far haven't been able to get much traction toward a deal. The Lakers are likely reluctant to part with significant assets, given that they can just sign Leonard as a free agent in a year. The Spurs, meanwhile, have reportedly been asking for a king's ransom in exchange for the 27-year-old.

It could be a while before the two sides make their way to some sort of middle ground, if they ever do.

Report: LeBron not pressuring Lakers to acquire 2nd star .
LeBron James signed a four-year deal because he wanted to give the Los Angeles Lakers some time to build their team. As such, James isn't pressuring the Lakers to immediately attract a second star, league sources told ESPN's Zach Lowe.
